The majority of us have the opportunity to engage with students on a daily basis. The degree of engagement varies and most often never strays too far from academics, at least not for extended periods of time. Considering that thought and current events, I invited a guest blogger to use Stories from School AZ as a portal to express her thoughts about the tragedy at the Boston Marathon. My guest blogger is in third grade at a public school in Arizona.
What is Life?
If you know me, you know that I LOVE to sing. I don’t mean love, I mean, LOVE. Singing is the one thing I have really stuck to. Sometimes, I don’t understand these things that we love so much. They just pop out of nowhere. One time we love dancing, next we love singing, then acting, then karate, then soccer, then swimming, then back to singing again. I don’t understand it sometimes. Why can’t we already have a purpose?
We, humans, have done a lot for this world. Why does earth sometimes treat us in such a bad way?I really wish that I could figure out life. Life is nonstop stress and pain. Friends of course, get us through the most stressful and most painful moments in life. I’ve always wondered-Why can’t everyone be friends?Instead of enemies and friends, we should just have friends. Life is full of surprises and you never know what might happen next. What will people do? Will you survive the next day or will there be a big shooting or bombing where you live? Will you get hurt or seriously hurt or even die? I have two examples. One for shooting. One for bombing. The first one is shooting.
One day students were in class and all of a sudden- gunfire. Crazy man shooting everyone. People hiding in closets, people hiding under desks, people hiding wherever they could hide. Kids and adults were injured and killed. Memorial services, President Obama speaking. All that stuff.
There there’s the bombing example.
Boston Marathon. People running to the finish line, people cheering happily for their family and friends. BOOM! Bomb went off. Then, BOOM! Second bomb went off. Screaming, running away from the whole scene, people huddled with their families. Once again, kids and adults injured, thankfully only three kids, but one eight year old died. President spoke, there are going to be memorial services, and strange notes with poison may be connected to bombing.
Isn’t this stuff just sad? I think it is. I find it fascinating the things people do. Everyone deserves life. A great life. Why can’t people not interrupt greatness? I don’t think it makes any sense. This is only my personal opinion, but do you think so too? Think about that. Then tell me what you think with both of these examples in mind.
