Why Do You Think I Teach?

I posted the above question to my class today to hear their thoughts. If my reasons for teaching were true and evident, surely they would be clear to my own students, right?

“You want us to learn and grow up to be a good community.”

“Because you like school.”

“You want us to be educated when we grow up and have good jobs.”

“You have fun!”

“Because you want us to learn, laugh, play and grow.”

“For people to be like “Aaahhh and ooohhhh!” when we share our ideas.”

Looks like these seven and eight year olds are right on.  For all these reasons and the love of learning from students and colleagues, I choose to teach. What would your students say?
